Dear FList,

Yup--housesitting over Thanksgiving!  Which means that even if Glenn is around, hook him up to the TV with a video game system and I can claim the common room and have the dogs help me out on the E.M. Forster paper.  Muahahaha!  Though...I can just imagine the pups tearing into E.M. Forster...literally...unfortunately, that might result in a sudden loss of pages in many library books.  Not to mention my own books.  Eep.

Also, the SU folks came up big for me today.  The Grand Old Man of Fiction asked me to housesit (although he lamented that it's sad that I'm not seeing family over break--enh), Dr. and Mrs. Black Jeans invited me to their house for Turkey Day Dinner, and the Department Chair asked me to meet her for lunch at the Brew Pub on Friday.

I'm suddenly looking forward to the next few days.  Though...I miss the days when Chuck Joe Hank would come through my bedroom window at 2:30 in the morning, step on my face by accident, and shout "Merry fucking Thanksgiving!  Fuck your corporate Christmas capitalist bullshit!  I got you fucking Thanksgiving presents!  I'm gonna curb the fucking system!"

[Tangent:  Found a quote I like in A Passage to India, which shows why bribery is a bad idea and why the capitalist mode of production will get us nowhere:  "...indeed, the coin that buys the exact truth has not yet been minted."]

Though...this is going to be lots of fun, as well.  And it will result in far less physical pain.  Especially to my face.

So, FList, here's where I, the Red Mage (who, as you know, does not regulalry imbibe), requires your aid:  I should like very much to get a bottle of wine or some such to take along to dinner on Thursday (it seems only appropriate, and kind).  Any recommendations?  Please, I require your aid on this important matter of adult beverages, an area in which I am not very well versed.
